The winter season is officially over and it’s time to start looking where we can get our summershred on. Every summer Les Deux Alpes seems to prove that it is the center of the universe (read: Europe) for those weird people that want to snowboard even though the beaches are open for public again.

Now after a crappy season like this we can’t help but wonder what the conditions will be like on the glacier this summer, but the organization behind this years Kumiyama doesn’t seem to have any doubts.

The Kumiyama is the biggest event you will find in the summer in Europe when it comes to ski, snowboard and photography. For 3 days long skiërs and snowboarders battle in teams of three in teir own catagory, while the photoraphers try to take the most gorgeous action shots for some prizemoney. This concept seems to be working quite well because we’ve seen all the big shots coming over to shred the japanese set-up.

Things will be a bit different this year, though. Unfortunately for all you pipejocks, this years Kumiyama will be solely a slopestyle contest. Besides the invitationals all you am’s out there can also enter, just find two buddies you like to shred with and be in Deux on time for registration.
The groms are lucky as well, for the 9 to 14 year old’s a special course will be built for them to show their Kamikaze moves. For the first time in Kumiyama history there will also be a prize for the best all-girl team.

Thursday – Registration at “La Garage”
Friday – Slopestyle qualie’s
Saturday – Slopestyle contest
Sunday –  Kids Slopestyle and Best Trick contest
