You might remember the Vans Team trip we took to Lithuania last year. We managed to find a lot of new zones and immerse ourselves in a new culture which was abound with Russian flavour. All of this really appealed to us and this year we wanted to do a whole Baltic States tour but the snowgods weren’t favorable. This whole region barely got any snow this year so we had to look for an alternative. Untill a few days beforehand we weren’t sure where to go but the decision was made to go to Briançon in the French Alps. We took off from GV headquarters as usual and set off with Cees Wille’s murdered out Chevy Van. Postland Tim was there to capture everything on his lo-fi filmemulator pinhole device. Not so little anymore Max de Vries was along for the ride and Will Smith was to fly in from the UK. We spent a night driving and napping in the back of the van. The next day upon entering the Alps we were already greeted by a little snow so of course we were hyped.
We rolled into a small town to get some cripsy baguettes at the local Boulangerie.
We finally arrived in Briancon and were all a little weary from the drive so we went to the tourist office and then into the adjacent church where this heater from below blew us warm.
The next morning we woke up early and were greeted by a blanket of fresh!
While setting up a spot Max took to a little sidepow.
This cat came chilling with us.
The dear creature even creeped in the van and slalommed the board and caressed them as if they were precious fur stabilizers.
Having lunch at the spot.
Seeing as we were in a medieval city our instincts told us to explore the forts and castles that are abundant in this picteresque city.
Max was candyhigh errday.
Don Shithorse had to mark his territory and took out the Cameltoe to lay some turns inside ancient architecture.
Cees continued to jump off this fortress not far from the powline.
G had to get his on the way out from the spot, gnarly castle transfer.
Just hanging out inside the walls contemplating options and what to have for dinner.
We found this ledge to rail transfer and Cees went for it first try but took a heavy beating and slightly concussed himself so he wrapped his head in snow while Max started getting his trick.
In a quiet moment Tim leaves no opportunity behind and busts out the Cameltoe for some slashing on the sledhill. After this Will joined in who GV went to pick up in Grenoble. Will came to the spot, did a couple tries and got his trick.
Tight tunneling in the morning.
Breakfast at the spot.
- Will and Tim getting slappy after Will landed a banger.
G pointing out where the sugary snow needs to be melted in order to create a solid takeoff.
The next morning we went back to the same zone cause not everything that we wanted to get had been landed properly. Will staying hydrated and enjoying the scene since he already got his.
Winching on castlegrounds.
Tim and Will just soaking for a bit. We got superlucky with the weather and got bluebird almost everyday after some snow in the first few days. Photo by GV.

One of the first days we spotted this hefty butterblock to wallride and we finally got around to figuring it out. The boys found a hipbone and threw it up onto the bridge which goes into old town.
See you. Thanks to Vans, GV Constructions and Cees’ murdered out Chevy Van.
